The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the premier ballooning event promoting the sport of ballooning, the City of Albuquerque, and the State of New Mexico — across the nation and around the world. Kathie Leyendecker is the Media Relations Director for the world-famous Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
Since the first modest ascension on a chilly September morning 39 years ago, hundreds of thousands of people have been gathering to watch and be a part of this spectacular event that has made Albuquerque the ballooning capital of the world.
A professional full-time staff works throughout the year to produce Balloon Fiesta, and serve in six primary areas: event production, merchandising, marketing, field maintenance, communications and administration.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Kathie has been the Media Relations Director for Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta since 2002. She is responsible for all media activities before, during and after Balloon Fiesta, including the development and implementation of a media relations plan. She also manages relationships with the press and other media sources. Kathie coordinates and aligns media messages and events to promote Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta on a year-round basis.
Kathie is also the owner of Transactions Ink, an Albuquerque-based public relations firm specializing in transportation-related public involvement and media relations. She has lead several high profile communications initiatives, including the public involvement for the 2000 Big I Reconstruction Project in Albuquerque. Her background includes service as the Community Relations Director for the New Mexico Department of Transportation, and as the Community Liaison for Congressman Steve Schiff.
