The Compass Award is an original design commissioned exclusively for the NMAMA’s annual Marketer of the Year Awards. The design of the Compass Award was conceived and accomplished as a project during the tenure of past President of NMAMA, James Martinez, owner of Fast Signs On The Two.
Current NMAMA President Kim Jarigese built on the success of the Award’s physical design by strengthening its brand. Its distinguishing feature emphasizes the relevance of its design and concept for New Mexico marketers.
Compass — The Direction of Marketing.
The Compass is a well-earned recognition of distinction for its recipients, and reflects the vision for NMAMA to be the #1 marketing resource for New Mexico marketing professionals. Its face is always set to point to the Southwest, signifying successful marketing campaigns that originate in New Mexico.
The award was designed by artist Wendell W. Unzicker, born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois. He currently lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with his family.
Mr. Unzicker is a full-time, professional artist specializing in illustrations and graphics. A member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists, he is quite active in both local and international competitions and shows.
